In Progress

Family Garden, Rural East Sussex

Plans for an awkwardly shaped south facing site for a recently renovated 19th century Creamery overlooking the South Downs National Park.

A low maintenance yet playful Mediterranean influenced gravel garden for a young family with a focus on scent, structure and fluidity. The design includes an entertaining deck and patio that stretches the length of the back of the house, which is predominantly glazing that opens out to create a true indoor-outdoor living experience. A BBQ, Pizza oven and a herb garden are included next to the patio. The design includes structural and drought tolerant planting throughout, ornamental grasses, and of course plenty of English lavender!

Town House, London

Garden visuals for a terraced house in South East London.

Large patio area directly outside the kitchen, with steps leading up to a lawn, and perennial border. Stepping stones in basalt, to match the patio lead to the vegetable garden and mini orchard.

Yard, Camden

Maximising on space.

Challenge: A small residential garden and front garden, in Camden, North London. The back garden was very small, and with little direct sunlight, quite damp and dark. The front was overlooked by a busy street.

RHS Tatton, 'Water Scare-city'

My accepted entry to RHS Tatton Flower Show 2019.

Climate change is causing more extreme weather in the UK, with 2018 being the hottest summer on record. Water 'Scare-city' is a dry garden border that showcases some of the best plants that will thrive in dry landscapes. It celebrates their resilience, as well as their beauty and flowering interest.

Scare-city story: the border starts as a lush Mediterranean gravel garden with a walkway that suggests a dried up river bed. As we move along the river towards the city the planting becomes sparse, communicating a dry landscape with a lack of water to feed it. As we reach the barren city the planting is all but dried up and in its place a harsh urban skyline.
